GLASS PAINTING (MV 4419: 4)

Type: Glass painting (king's head).

Use: Decoration.

Site: Raisio church

Period: Late Middle Ages.

Dating: 15th century A.D.

Photographer: -

This glass painting shows an escutcheon which has an unknown monogram on it. It can be assumed that this sign belonged to some local man of distinction. No other similas glass paintings have been preserved in Finland but in the churches there were often coats of arms of prominent men placed on display. This painting could have been made by a Finnish master.
