This programme represents a sample episode of a late night interactive karaoke musical series where users can participate by singing popular songs together. Each episode would be in a different theme, for example hippies, the 90s’, 80s’, Elvis etc. In between the communal karaoke performances there are prerecorded clips that act as a narrative thread which bring the story forward and tie the songs together. This narration is loosely based on the titles and themes of the songs.
Interactivity
The viewers can call in (regular telephone) and/or use their webcam (either at our Hippioke Website or through Skype, MSN, Yahoo chat etc.) to join the party and sing the songs. They are represented by an on-screen animated character, with the real head of the participant shown if they have a webcam pointing at themself. If participants sing well and loud, as analysed by our special software algorithm, their character will increase “bloom”, which is made clear with visual clues related to the theme. For example in the 'Hippioke' episode their hair grows, rainbows appear, mushrooms or trees will smile. The combined level of the viewers’ interaction will be visually displayed by an event, for example a side bar indicated as a rising stream of smoke based on the overall communal singing score - which, if it exceeds a maximum value, could effect a complete fractalization of the screen!
