The University of Art and Design Helsinki is situated in the area called Arabia, about 6 kms from the center of Helsinki, in the same building as the famous porcelain factory Arabia.

The buses 71, 71V, 73B, 735K and 68 departing from the Railway Station, the bus 74 departing from the Hakaniemi market square and the bus 77S stopping at the Hakaniemi market square all stop near our University. In the bus, push the signal button when you see the Arabia factory on the right side of the road. Tram number 6 has it’s terminal close to the University and travels via the Railway Station.
The taxi fare from the center of the city to the UIAH is nowadays approximately 15 euros. Tel. 0100 0700.

The entrances to the Media Lab are in the C-stair and in the D-stair.

Tourist ticket

Helsinki City Transport's low-priced tourist ticket entitles you to travel by bus, tram, metro, local train and the Suomenlinna ferry to see the city's sights.

Please buy your tourist ticket in advance. Tourist tickets can be purchased for one, three or five days. Your ticket will entitle you to travel as much as you like within the city, using every mode of transport with the exception of regional buses.

How to use your tourist ticket
1.Tourist tickets are for personal use only. Please write your name on the back of your ticket.
2.Stamp your ticket when you begin your first trip.
3.The ticket is now valid for 1, 3 or 5 whole days from the time registered. No subsequent stamping is required. You will find stamping machines beside the driver on buses, in the front and middle sections of trams, at the entrance to the platform area at metro stations, and inside each door in local trains.
4.The next time you take a bus, simply show the driver that your ticket is stamped. On trams and when you take the metro or a local train, you do not need to show your ticket unless asked to do so by the driver or a ticket inspector.

The Helsinki Card

opens the doors of museums and other places of interest. It grants you free travel on the buses, trams, the metro and local trains in Helsinki and also a free sightseeing tour by bus and free boat trips. The Card qualifies you for little gifts in department stores. It spoils you at restaurants with special offers, to say nothing of theatres, the opera and concerts.

Validity of the Card:
The Helsinki Card is valid for 24, 48 or 72 hours from the time the holder first uses it. The time is stamped by hand at the first place visited or by the ticket machine on public transport. The Card must be signed by the holder. The signed Card is personal and is not transferable.

Sights and museums:
Show your Card to the ticket attendant on entering museums and other places of interest.

Public transport:
When travelling on public transport in Helsinki the Helsinki Card is your ticket. Stamp the Card in the stamping machine, when you use the Card for the first time.

The Helsinki Card entitles card holders to free travel on Helsinki buses with a black and yellow arrow sign, on trams, the metro and the Suomenlinna ferry, and also on local trains operating in the Helsinki area. The card is valid for 24, 48 or 72 hours from the time first used and marked on it.

Sightseeing tour:
The Helsinki Card entitles you to one free sightseeing tour by bus.

To obtain your programme leaflet show your Helsinki Card at the theatre or concert box office or the programme sales desk. Reduced tickets can be booked to performances/concerts on the same and/or following day.

Restaurants:
In restaurants, show your Card when you order.

Department stores:
The Helsinki Card entitles you to only one gift at each department store.
