Sankari SANKARI
Sankari is an interactive television project using a new experimental narrative technique and showing the result in public mass media. The user is represented by his own voice. The indivual performances and improvisational aspects create the suspense of the narrative. A character based story structure is used to create a dialogue between the user and the narrative.
The main character has no voice of his own. The viewer can phone the show and give the main character his own voice. The caller is performing as the main character's speaking voice and inner monologue. His voice will be part of the live TV-show and his performance is heard by the TV-audience. The clip-editor of the show is also listening to this performance. Numerous versions of each scenario have been shot. Based on the caller's input, the clip-editor chooses adequate movie clips and decides how the story progresses.

Art_fact_artifact Art, Fact and Artifact Production
The public examination of Lily Díaz-Kommonen's dissertation Art, Fact and Artifact Production was held at the University of Art and Design Helsinki (Sampo Auditorium, Media Centre Lume) on 11 December 2002 at noon. Díaz-Kommonen is a senior researcher at the University's Media Lab. Her opponent was Professor Michael Shanks from Stanford University, USA.
"This work analyzes how knowledge is produced by various participants working together at the intersection where arts, humanities, and the new media meet. We are presented with two complementing voices: one building theory of how art, facts and artifacts are produced, and the other reporting the process that contributed to those insights - the collaborative design effort of creating the Raisio Digital Archive, which gathers representations of archaeological finds and assorted material culture of Southwestern Finland, from the periods of the late Iron Age to the early Middle Ages."
Art, Fact, and Artifact Production is published as a book already, and it will be available in .pdf format, too. See the abstract, please!

Falling Through the Force of Gravity Falling through the Force of Gravity
The premiere of a part of Hanna Haaslahti's final thesis project, a short movie, was at the Avanto festival in November 2000 in the Kiasma theatre. The dance-installation exhibited recently at Continent - New Media Art exhibition is followed by this hypnotic short movie about past unrest.
Four memories of dancer Pia Lindy are incarnated in the form of choreographies at the National Museum. The dancer recalls events from her past that still obsess her physical memory. Naughty "memories" sabotage the solemn museum space and quarrel with each other. They are angels, who play tricks with people's minds. Each have their own story to tell.

Lepakko Lepakko - CavePeople
This CD-Rom tells the story of Lepakkoluola aka the Batcave, a paint warehouse in Helsinki, Finland, which became known for various reasons, by various names. The CD-Rom presents Lepakkoluola as something more than a mere building. Lepakkoluola was a state of mind, which generated many rock bands and even the oldest private radio station in Finland, Radio City. 'Lepakko CavePeople', therefore is not a game, nor is it an educational multimedia show to be screened in museums. This CD-Rom mixes documentation with sensation - it is something for the user to make sense of and discover.

Lasse Seppänen's final thesis presentation in November 1999: "Power! Game Design Document". The emphasis of the work was on creating a professional game design document. The game described in the document - an online game of political intrigue for 1-5 players, called "Power!" - was designed specifically for this project. A game design document is a production document that describes a computer game in a highly detailed manner. The game design document is used as a reference by artists, programmers, sound designers and management. In a sense, it has a relatively similar status as a script in the film industry.
